Barbara Cooke
Barbara Cooke was a founder/partner in The Brand Survey Company SA [Pty] Ltd which was started in 2002 to introduce the internationally acclaimed Target Group Index [TGI] to the South African Market – the 50th TGI country in the world and the first in Africa. She has been Director of Research and Planning at JWT, an Account Director at FCB and was the General Manager Research and Marketing at National Magazines, a division of the Nasionale Pers Publishing Group, now Media 24, for over 13 years. Her early experience was gained during nearly 19 years with Unilever [1958-1978].
Barbara has published widely and presented papers at conferences in South Africa and overseas. She is a founder member of the South African Marketing Research Association, has served on the boards of many professional associations and in 1998 received the Protea Award from the SA Association of Marketers. She was a Council Member of the Technikon Witwatersrand and part of the team that managed its amalgamation with RAU and the formation of The University of Johannesburg. She continues to be an active participant in the Marketing, Media and Research community in South Africa.
